2019 International Crochet Month Designer Showcase

2019 International Crochet Month Designer Showcase - Little Monkeys Designs

I’m participating in the International Crochet Month Designer Showcase with Underground Crafter. Come join the fun!

Every day in March, 2019, we’ll highlight a different crochet designer who is also a member of the Crochet Guild of America. Each designer will share a free crochet pattern or a 25% discount on a premium pattern. We’ve partnered with some of our favorite companies to get some great prizes for you -- including yarn, crochet hooks, notions, pattern books, and more!

Find out more information about participating designers, the schedule, and how to enter to win the prizes on Underground Crafter.

Importance of Dye Lot Numbers

Have you ever run out of yarn for a project, run to the store for more yarn, finish your project, and then realize your yarn colors don't match?

Why does this happen?

Do you have enough yarn?

We have all been there! You find a gorgeous crochet pattern you want to make with that beautiful yarn in your stash. The question is, do you have enough yarn? Maybe the yarn label is gone or part of a skein has already been used. What do you do?

Organize your Yarn and Crochet Hooks

No one can use tangled up yarn or lost crochet hooks! When you organize your yarn and hooks, you ensure that they stay in the best conditions for use,

To store my yarns, I prefer to use open shelving like a bookcase or clear storage totes so I can see what I have. It is best to pick an organization theme as well for your yarn. Store the yarn by fiber type, color, or weight.

Glass jars or decorated aluminum cans are perfect for displaying your crochet hooks on a desk or table. Crochet hook cases are perfect for storing extra hooks or for taking them on a trip.

Tangle-free yarn and hooks that you can find when you need them are definitely worth taking a few minutes to organize!

How to keep your pattern clean

Crochet Tip of the Week:

If you're like me, you enjoy a little tea or coffee with your crochet! And maybe you're also easily distracted like me and can spill your tea or coffee on the pattern that you're working on?? The safe option is to put your pattern inside a plastic sleeve to keep it protected from spills, little ones, dogs, etc...

Use the best yarn possible

There's nothing like finishing a large project and it all falling apart because you used really cheap yarn! For any project, you should use the best yarn possible so that you are pleased with the end results. Poor quality yarn can pill, scratch, fall apart, and lead to other unpleasant results. You definitely don't want that to happen after you put so much of your time and effort into the project!! The tip is to use good yarn - the best you can afford - that is appropriate for the project.

Interweave Crochet Magazine Winter 2019

Winter crochet pillow by Angela Plunkett - Interweave Crochet Magazine Winter 2019 edition - Little Monkeys Designs

Interweave Crochet is my all time FAVORITE crochet magazine, so when there's a call for submissions, I love to send in a pattern idea. A few times I've been lucky to have a pattern published in their magazine.

This time I have a pillow crochet pattern featured in the Winter 2019 edition of Interweave Crochet.
