Socks are on my bucket list! They are so cute and cozy to wear, so why not learn to crochet your own unique pair???

I was recently given the opportunity to review Abby Swanson's new Make Fun Socks crochet patterns booklet published by Leisure Arts.

This fun booklet includes 9 cute and cozy sock patterns to crochet. It was hard to choose which pattern to start with!

As usual - the yarn you have on hand dictates which pattern you try first! I just finished a large C2C blanket - that I will blog about soon - so I had a lot of Lion Brand Vanna's Choice yarn in my yarn stash.

I choose a light blue and a dusty blue yarns and the Classic Striped Socks pattern.

This is the time of year that I listen to webinars to get all my continuing education credits for my RN and IBCLC licenses, so I put in the ear phones and got busy listening and crocheting!

In now time, I had two cute socks! The weather unfortunately cooperated with sock wearing too - it has been one COLD spring! At least now my toes are warm!!

Thoughts on the book - Make Fun Socks:

* This book contains 9 really cute sock patterns. Each is different, but the basic foot part of the sock pattern is the same for several patterns.

* Pictures are included in the back of the book to clarify the pattern directions. There were a few times - like when creating the heel - that the pattern wording was confusing, and I really could have used a picture clarifying the directions.

* The patterns use a variety of yarn weights - some socks are crocheted with worsted weight (#4) yarn, while other patterns uses classic sock yarn (#1) and one pattern uses #3 weight yarn.

* Don't need 9 sock patterns? No problem - several patterns are acutaly yoga sock or leg warmers - something for everyone.

I would encourage you to purchase or download this booklet of cute sock crochet patterns - Make Fun Socks - and try your hand at crocheting a pair of socks.

  1. Hi! Thanks for this good review. I never thought one could make socks with WW yarn, I am always scared by the sock yarn (so small...must take ages to complete the pattern). This is very interesting and I might just by the book to make cute socks like you did. Thank you!

    1. Yes! Sock yarn isn't crochet friendly, but once you learn sock making with worsted weight yarn, sock yarn isn't so scary!
