Pattern and yarn kits for All About Baby Collection

100% organic cotton yarn is hard to find! But I love to work with it, so quite a few of the patterns I create are made with organic cotton yarn.

My favorite sport weight yarn that I've worked with lately is Appalachian Baby Design organic cotton yarn.

Because it is not available to purchase at big box stores, I have created pattern and yarn kits to go with 3 of the patterns in the All About Baby Collection.

Each kit includes the crochet pattern and the necessary yarn to complete the pattern.

In the case of the Baby Wash Cloths, one skein of yarn will make several wash cloths.

You will also be able to make more than one little hat with the 2 skeins of yarn that comes with the Sweet Stripes Baby Hat kit.

If you want extra skeins of yarn, you may add it to your order as well. By adding a blue skein to a cream and pink yarn kit, you can make hats for boys as well as for girls.

The options are endless.

If you love receiving a DIY project in the mail, then a pattern and yarn kit are for you!

Free crochet pattern - simple summer clutch

Clutches are all the fashion right now!
They are perfect for carrying just those necessary items when you go out.

Here is a crochet pattern for a simple, easy clutch. It's a quick project.

Simple Summer Clutch Crochet Pattern

Materials
55 yards of chunky weight yarn. I used Chunky Merino by O-wool.com
Hook: L
7" Zipper
Crochet thread and needle

Size: 7.5" x 5"

Directions

Row 1: Chain 20, starting in the 2nd chain from the hook - sc in each st across, work 2 sc in last st.

Row 2: Rotate to work along the back loops of beginning chain. Sc in each st across, work 2 sc in last st.

Row 3-17:  Continue working in the round - sc in each sc. Continue until the clutch is the height you desire. 17 rows = 5"

Zipper
Open up zipper and place it on top inside edge of clutch. Use crochet thread and needle to whip stitch zipper to clutch. If you will make your whip stitches between the sc stitches, they won't show on the outside of the clutch. Knot and cut thread.

Repeat on the opposite side of zipper and clutch. Knot and finish off.

Tassel
Cut 3 5" pieces of yarn and together pull them through the hole at the end of the zipper tab. Cut another 5" piece and knot if around the yarn pieces below the zipper tab. Cut the ends of the same length if necessary.

Zip zipper and you are finished! Enjoy!

Sweet Stripes Baby Hat

crochet baby hats

The Sweet Stripes Baby Hat was created for a sweet baby to wear when he and big brother go to the park.

I used Appalachian Baby Design sport weight organic cotton yarn to crochet these delightful hats. A new fun stitch - taught to you in the pattern instructions - creates the beautiful stripe around the hat.

Pattern and yarn kits are also available to create the Sweet Stripes Baby Hat.

I'd love to see the charming baby hats you create with this crochet pattern! Post them on the Little Monkeys Design Facebook page or tag me @LtlMonkeyShop on Instagram.

Blue Sky Alpaca yarn review

I recently had the opportunity to play with some worsted weight organic cotton yarn from Blue Sky Alpaca. Overall - it's delicious!
crochet pattern baby blanket
Blue Sky Alpaca provided me with yarn support to create the Squares Baby Blanket and the Squares Pillow Cover. Their worsted weight cotton yarn is a two-ply twist of 100% certified organic cotton.

I chose Bone, Sky, Mediterranean, and Indigo colors.
The Blue Sky Alpaca yarn is a heavy worsted weight yarn. I used a J hook to get the right look and feel for the finished blanket. The yarn is super soft and a little on the fuzzy side.
The yarn is perfect for crocheting everything from baby clothes, blankets and toys to fashionable sweaters and scarves, along with home decorations such as cozy afghans and pillows.
They offer a large array of yarn color choices to choose from -  all colored with low impact dyes.
Here is how Blue Sky Alpaca recommends you care for this yarn:
Hand wash or dry clean. Wash in tepid water using a mild soap. Do not agitate or twist. Shape and dry flat on a towel. Store your little treasure neatly folded; after all, it may be a family heirloom.

Overall - I'm in LOVE and will be using this yarn again - but first I'd like to play some with their sport weight organic cotton yarn.
